CBS announced today that 'Guiding Light' has been cancelled. The show will air it's final episode on Friday September 18, 2009.'Guiding Light' was the longest running show currently on television. The show has been running in one form or another on radio and television for 72 years! The prevailing thought was that CBS would keep it around long enough to celebrate it's 75th anniversary in 2012, however today's announcement brought that hope to an end.
