NBC has renewed 'Law and Order: SVU' for an 11th season. The network sealed the deal with Dick Wolf, the show's producer.However, the deal does not include the two leads, Chris Meloni and Mariska Hargitay. Their contracts expire in May, and NBC has only recently begun negotiating with them. If past history is any indication, the negotiations could be a long, drawn out affair.
After the last negotiations in 2007, Meloni posted a message on his personal website saying that the talks were "unpleasant to say the least." He also said, "I'll have much more to say about that when my responsibilities to the show are done."
Hargitay, on the other hand has always said she looks forward to life after 'SVU.' She has also recently had some health problems that may factor into these negotiations.
