T. R. Knight not returning to 'Grey's Anatomy' Heigl still up in the air

E! is reporting that T.R. Knight will not be returning to 'Grey's Anatomy' next season.

This really should come as too much of a surprise since Knight had asked to be released from his contract back in December, and the tension between him and creator Shonda Rhimes had reached a point where something needed to be done.

Knight's character, George O' Malley, was flatlining the last time we saw him on 'Grey's' finale.

The shows other problem child, Katherine Heigl, has yet to learn her fate. Her character, Izzie, was also flatlining when last we saw her.

Heigl's problems with Rhimes began last year when she refused to submit her name for Emmy consideration, claiming that the writers hadn't given her enough good material to work with.

Interestingly enough, Heigl is reportedly submitting her name for Emmy consideration this year.
