Entertainment Weekly is reporting that ABC has said that this season of 'Ugly Betty' will be its last. Not only that, the network has cut the season order of 22 episodes down to 20.Considering the following that 'Betty' has, this was a bit of a surprise to me. Sure the ratings haven't been good, but the network has always been behind this show in the past.
The news comes soon enough to 'Betty' producers that they should be able to create a satisfying ending to the series. Exec producer Silvio Horta and ABC president Steve McPherson confirmed as much in this joint statement: “We’ve mutually come to the difficult decision to make this 'Ugly Betty's' final season, and are announcing now as we want to allow the show ample time to write a satisfying conclusion. We are extremely proud of this groundbreaking series, and felt it was important to give the fans a proper farewell.”
