NBC is expected to announce that 'Law and Order' has been renewed for a 20th season.This means that it will match 'Gunsmoke' as the longest running drama series in TV history.
A 20th season of 'L&O' was never really in doubt. Although the show doesn't perform like it once did, it's still a signature player for NBC - and executive produce Dick Wolf was keen to see the show mark its 20th anniversary.
