Changes in store for Desperate Housewives

There are some changes coming for the women of Wisteria Lane.

Actress Drea de Matteo will be leaving the 'Desperate Housewives' at the end of this season. Producers are saying that this was a planned exit. de Matteo's role was only intended to be a one year role. Series creator Marc Cherry said, “Part of the deal when we hired Drea was she was only interested in doing one season,” he explains. “She has a baby and is eager to get back to her life in New York."

In other news for the ABC dramedy, Dana Delany is in talks to headline the ABC drama 'Body of Evidence.' 'Evidence' will also star Jeri Ryan. The project centers on a brilliant, tenacious medical examiner -- the part Delany is in talks for -- whose background as a neurosurgeon gives her a unique and refreshing crime-solving perspective but puts her at odds with nearly everyone.

If Delany decides to take the role, this would certainly mean the end of her stint on 'Housewives.'
